Be a Blessing of Light

Be a Blessing of Light

Over the past month, I have spent time stepping into new things in my personal and professional life. As I step into these new experiences, I do my best to embrace my past but not let my past define me. I take with me all the imperfections to reach for all that is ahead and I do this because my foundation in my worldly life is God.

I realize I no longer have to worry or fear experiences in life. I give control to God and God gives me the strength to shine my light as a reflection of the light God shares with me. God is preparing me for each next step that I take in this journey of life.

New experiences are exhilarating, exhausting, and empowering all at the same time. The ebb and flow of experiencing something new is full of ups and downs.

The grounding is in the strength to move forward, embrace the past, and look ahead. To do this, surrounding ourselves with people who support and challenge us through new experiences is key. People closes to us truly know who we are (they are as if God sent us angels to be message deliverers); they are able to help to refocus us on the big picture versus the minute mishaps that potentially have us second-guessing what we are called to do.

This week I did a video blog post recording on Wednesday, I had many reservations about posting the video. I began receiving messages over a 24-hour period. First, was when I received two devotional messages that were sending support for the same message. Next, I flipped open my journal to a page and Philippians 3: 13-14 glared directly at me.

Philippians 3: 13-14

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

As I reread Philippians, my phone went off, I had just gotten a text from a close friend at 6:15am on Thursday morning. Her text read, “Just woke up from having a very interesting, but realistic dream about you. You started doing some pretty amazing artwork and you got remarried. Your artwork though.... it was all about coming out in to the light or looking in to the light to see some of your favorite things. One of your paintings a big smiling happy Lincoln looking into this hole, but your vantage point was from an underground hole, like from under a wooden floor, with the sun directly behind his head so some rays were shining down in to the hole and you. The interesting part was that rather than Lincoln’s face and body be dark and a silhouette because the sun was directly behind him, it was lit up as if it were a photo taken with a flash. But it was a painting, so think he was lit up like that from your light, the light coming from you. There were dozens of pictures just like this, but with all different things - Sadie, Kaya, Caelan, your mom, Wayne, and other people, things, and dogs that I did not recognize. But the theme was all the same, the vantage point was looking up through a hole at these objects with the sun behind them, but they were still lit up, figuratively and literally. It was so realistic!”

I read this text and the tears began to stream. Everything in her text connected to the experiences I had over the last 24-hours.

After some processing through text
with my friend, I decided to share the video. Here is the video uploaded on Thursday.
During my video post, I shared a peak into Maya Angelou’s video where she talks about being a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.
Be grateful for all the rainbows who are blessings and be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud. Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves and others to be perfect which closes the door to trying something new, especially if we keep looking back at the past.

Move forward, embrace the past, and look ahead.

Sense the ray of light on your flesh and let the light reflect off you to be a blessing to someone else.

RAY OF LIGHT

Reflecting on a number of roads
Traveled through day and night
To find ones true freedom
And live thy souls life passion

Ray of light shine bright

Responsibility lies deep within
Gathering strength to move ahead
To find the happiness well deserved
To share love and to serve

Ray of light shine through my smile

Retreating to a place of warmth
Skin is heated and turmoil fades
Anticipation builds for a new
Acquisition of freedom is over due

Ray of light shine within

Release the depths of fear
Strength and peace growing near
Live the chaos to experience clarity
Sharing true thoughts is a rarity

Ray of light please don’t fade

Ray of light guide me to a new day

Ray of light shine through me in all Your glory
