A Light Filled with Gratitude

Gratitude is knowing we already have all we need.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, and confusion into clarity. It turns problems into gifts, failures into successes, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
- Melody Beattie

In the past week I fell flat on my face busting my nose and the engine in my car was overheating. Luckily, I didn’t break my nose (only swollen, scraped and bruised) and it was my water pump, not the engine (thankfully covered by a warranty).

How can we be grateful for the things that make life more difficult?

Being thankful during the challenging moments may be a blessing in disguise.

This week reminded me of the amazing people I have in my life. In times of difficulty we are reminded to be grateful in the moment, no matter the moment.

Many times I’ve tried to do life on my own. Maybe part of it is the skill you feel you must possess as a single parent to do it all on your own. This year as I reflect on why I’m grateful I finally understand in 2018, I am not doing life alone.

First, God’s got me. Thank the lawdy because I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t start my day with God during my morning devotion. For God is always with me.

What’s important to note is that over this past year God has shown me in so many ways that I’m not by myself. And that is through the people placed on my path throughout life, if it is for a reason, season and who knows maybe a few for a lifetime.

I’m grateful for those new on my path, those who are consistent and those who are strangers. For those who came in my life for a lesson, a message and ones who may stick around and have my back for a long while.

Gratitude is knowing we already have all we need.

“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” - Maya Angelou

Hi! Your blog gave me shivers. You talked about gratitude. I realized things. I am not always thankful and grateful for what I have. I have always thought that the things I have and the things I received is not enough. But upon reading your blog, I realized that I should be thankful for the things I have because not all people of my age have it. This may be simple, but it helped me a lot. Thank you for sharing.
